This epic Hausa fantasy tale, Allon Sihiri (The Magical Tablet), chronicles the tragic, high-stakes journey of Prince Lubainu as he seeks to undo a devastating curse by recovering a shattered ancient artifact.
The Eve of Battle: King Alkas and Prince Mangul arrive in Zamrul with an army amidst a massive, spectating crowd. While the kings feast, Lubainu and a weeping Yazarina meet in a private garden on the eve of the tournament, filled with dread for what tomorrow holds.

The young man dropped to his knees before Queen Akisatul Sauwara in deep humility and offered his royal greetings. With a warm smile, Akisatul Sauwara accepted his greetings and said, "O charming young stranger, what brings you to my kingdom, and what is your reason for wanting an audience with me?"
When the youth heard this question, he bowed respectfully again and said, "My sovereign, my name is Prince Lubainu Ibin Sallur. My father is the king of a great city called Zamrul, located in a continent to the west of yours. Nothing drove me to leave our homeland except the quest to find where the River Bahar Imfal lies." Upon hearing these words, everyone in the palace gaped in absolute astonishment, looking at him as if he were a madman.

"Before his death, my father assured me that whatever a person seeks within the River Bahar Imfal can never be obtained unless they read the entirety of the river's written history. This history was inscribed upon a single Tablet, which was subsequently divided into three parts. Over this Tablet, countless wars have been fought, and millions of lives have been lost. Currently, one portion of this Tablet is in my hands. The second portion is held by King Darmasu of the city of Kimras. The third piece is in the possession of a notorious sorcerer known as Saryanu Ibni Daumur."

Immediately, the sorcerer took Prince Mangul's right hand, produced a powdered medicine, and rubbed it onto his palm. He then declared, "The moment Prince Lubainu’s hand meets yours, he will instantly lose his dignity as a man. He will never feel desire for a woman again, nor will he ever be able to sustain a marriage; thus, he and a woman will be virtually the same."
Hearing this, Prince Mangul burst into a wicked laugh and said, "Excellent, O Sorcerer Mugaru! Truly, you have given me a great weapon of reliance. Even if I die in this tournament, I will have no regrets or sorrow."
